Graphic Design Network

I am making a logo for a client of mine who is starting a website. I can't say much due to a stupid NDA. Yes there was a non disclosure agreement. . . they didn't want me saying much. I probably should not be showing you this but I really need advice. My client had a very specific look in mind and it was Web Candy 2.0. BTW what it says about graphic design network is just there for really no reason because I had to take out what it really said; because of the NDA. I am not to familiar with the web candy look, but I gave it my best shot... so here is what I came up with.

First, I would change the typo in wicked.gen.png ;-)

I wouldn't bother fixing that typo in wicked_gen.png... You can do more with less than what you have going on in that file. Of the three, I prefer WickedGenius.png.

I like reflection in some cases, but I'm not sure if it works here. I'm just not really a fan of the fade out. However, if you used a full reflection and obliqued the text I think it would look to heavy on the right.

If you do end up using reflection, perhaps it would be a good idea to have the reflection be a little transparent and less saturated than the actual GENIUS text.

I too am a fan of wickedgenius.png, the one with the text all on one baseline and without the reflection. Make sure the text IS actually on one bassline, I see that the "wicked" is actually on a slightly different baseline than the "genius". Try making the text of both words the exact same height. Since your lower case word doesn't have a descender, this should work nicely.

If I were to choose I would pick the 3rd (even though you spelled design wrong. You said you had not ever developed any web 2.0 logos so this is your first and you will get better as you do more. Here is my criticism at first glance for this logo: What I will say is not meant to offend you... I don't beat around the bush and call things like it is. Ok...ready: I like your color choice and I even like the font in logo 3's tagline but everything else would be a scratch. Don't let the web 2.0 effects be the whole logo. The web 2.0 effects should be to accentuate a logo which already has excitement. Ask yourself this: If I took out the glossy effect and the reflection would this logo stand on its own? I say no. You got pink. That's cool. What do geniuses have that is pink? lol. Not what you thought of first ( ; Brains, my friend. Brains. Make a cool shiny brain and work it in somewhere. That will really make your client say "WOW!" Now that would be a KICKASS logo. If you need help I am a wizard in illustrator and could probably whip something up for you or at least send you in the right direction. On my ning site I have a couple logos which I have recently done. I am also branding an organic line that is going national in Publix supermarkets Greenwise section.
